Anticimex has used phosphine in Söderhamn – more than five years ago

It was phosphine that caused the poisoning of an entire family in Söderhamn in October and where the daughter died from the injuries. But what is still a mystery is how the family came into contact with the phosphine.

Was in neighboring apartment

Anticimex was in one of the neighboring apartments and carried out a cleanup of silverfish in the kitchen in September.

– That time sticky traps were used, says Håkan Kjellberg, pest expert at Anticimex.

According to him, phosphine must not be used in homes. But he says that there are reports of phosphine being used in the municipality of Söderhamn. However, it must have happened at least five years ago.

Vacuum packed

Håkan Kjellberg tells us that Fosin comes in vacuum-packed packaging. When you break the packaging, the phosphine comes into contact with the air and then the phosphine begins to break down. If you play with the idea that opened phosphine products would have been forgotten five years ago, there is not even a theoretical possibility that phosphine gas would remain in the air that long afterwards.

– It takes between four and 14 days for phosphine gas to disappear completely, depending on the temperature, says Håkan Kjellberg at Anticimex.
