One day before the Oscars, the Golden Raspberry is traditionally awarded, among other things, to the worst films and the worst actors of the year. There was now 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for the voters to choose from. After a storm of indignation the organizers withdrew the nomination of the Firestarter star.

Anti-Oscars apologize after ‘insensitive’ nomination

The Hollywood Reporter quotes Golden Raspberry executive John Wilson from a statement:

Sometimes we do things without thinking. Then one is criticized and understands it. That’s why the Golden Raspberry exists. [Uns wurde gezeigt,] how insensitive we have been. We removed Ms. Armstrong’s name from the ballots. […] You deserve an apology.

Many actors had previously criticized the nomination. WandaVision actor Julian Hilliard, for example, accused the organizers of Armstrong the target for “bullying or worse” close.
