Anti-money laundering, updated technical rules for accountants

Accountants National Council approves new professional regulation

(Finance) – The National Council of Accountants expresses satisfaction with the favorable opinion expressed by Financial Security Committee in relation to the aupdating of the Technical Rules for the fulfillment of obligations anti-money laundering by accountants.

In compliance with the provisions of the mandate program, the National Council has in fact updated the Technical Rules approved in 2019, refining and streamlining their contents in with a view to simplification and easier application. The organic revision of the Technical Rules was necessary for their purposes adjustmenton the one hand, to regulatory changes occurred and, on the other, to the results that emerged during the first application in professional firms.

In compliance with this direction, the Study commission “Procedures and obligations to support accountants”coordinated by the National Councilor delegated to the Anti-Money Laundering Area, Gabriella Viggianoproceeded with the revision of the document which, approved by the National Council on 17 April, was sent to the Financial Security Committee, established at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, for the relevant opinion which was reached following a constant and constructive discussion.

There updated version of the document “Technical Rules pursuant to art. 11, co. 2 of Legislative Decree 231/2007 applied by members of the Register of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts to comply with the obligations of risk assessment, adequate customer verification, document conservation , data and information” will apply after the final approval of the document by the National Council scheduled for January 2025.
