The new Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, obviously has ants in his legs… Barely elected, this Saturday, and while the exact composition of Parliament is not yet known, he is leaving for Japan as part of his first official trip, to meet his Japanese counterpart, but also Joe Biden the American president, who sent his congratulations to him yesterday, as well as the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

He wastes no time… Anthony Albanese, just invested this Monday morning by the Governor General, the representative of the British Crown in Australia who is a member of the Commonwealth, he jumped on a plane bound for Japan…

He is accompanied by his Minister of Foreign Affairs, also invested this morning, as are three other members of his inner circle appointed to key positions. Penny Wong, that’s her name, is Australia’s first foreign-born foreign minister, in this case in Malaysia.

With Anthony Albanese, she plans to participate tomorrow Tuesday in a quad meetingan informal security alliance bringing together, in addition to Australia, Japan, India and the United States… The new Australian Prime Minister will also take advantage of this first official trip to meet, face to face, with the heads of State of these three countries.

In Australia, however, the counting of the ballots has not been completed and at this stage, Anthony Albanian is not yet assured of having an absolute majority in Parliament. The Labor Party came out on top in the legislative elections this Saturday in Australia, to the detriment of the Liberal Party and the National Party, in power for nine years, signaling the end of the government led by Scott Morrison.
