The conspiracy surrounding the artificial intelligence company OpenAI thickens when Altman, who was just fired and moved to Microsoft, returns to the company’s helm.
Sam Altman returns as the CEO of the leading artificial intelligence company OpenAI, OpenAI says in the X message service. Altman was fired from his position by the company’s board four days ago.
In the meantime, Altman was already hired by OpenAI’s partner Microsoft as the head of a new “advanced artificial intelligence research group”. However, Microsoft signaled in the previous days that Altman’s return to OpenAI in some role is not completely out of the question.
Altman received support from OpenAI employees. Almost the entire staff of 750 people threatened to resign if Altman was not taken back.
However, returning to the position of CEO will come as a surprise. CEO of Twitch streaming service named as interim CEO Emmett Shear only had time to work in its new washing machine for a few days.
The government too for renovation
At the same time, the company’s board will be partially renewed: the members of the new board are Adam D’Angelo (who already sat on the board), the new chairman of the board, former CEO of SalesForce Bret Taylor and former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the new board and Altman’s supporters have agreed to an independent investigation into the reversals of Altman’s quick firings.
Based on the scant information, at least Tasha McCauley and Helen Toner would have given up their government duties. The company’s chief scientist and board member Ilya Sutskever there is no information about the fate yet.
The government that dismissed Altaman never gave a direct reason for his dismissal, but justified it with a lack of trust.
Also a founding member who resigned in connection with Altman’s firing Greg Brockman returns to the company, Brockman says in the X message service.
Altman says in the X message service that he is “excitedly waiting for his return”.
