On Friday, 25 Swedes were able to leave the Gaza Strip for Egypt via the border crossing at Rafah.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can confirm that over 300 Swedes have so far been given permission to leave Gaza. Roughly 250 of them have so far passed the border crossing at Rafah, of which about 25 on Friday,” writes the Foreign Ministry’s press service in an email to TT.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that more Swedes will be given the opportunity to leave the area – but it is not certain that everyone who wants to leave will be granted permission.

Over 500 Swedes have announced that they want to leave Gaza, and the notifications are still increasing, according to the Foreign Ministry.

On Thursday, no Swedes could leave due to “administrative problems” at the border, according to the Foreign Ministry.

Those concerned are contacted when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is informed that Swedes are allowed to cross the border, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that communications are a challenge in crisis areas.
