As fall and darkness descend on the Destiny 2 universe, Bungie is celebrating its Halloween event. Basically not much has changed this year. But there’s something that still makes the Festival of the Lost interesting: Guardians are constantly insulted
What’s different about Halloween this year? Guardians like to be surprised. But Bungie hasn’t changed much about the Halloween event activities in 2023.
The players are once again exploring the so-called Haunted Sectors, which have been “rebuilt” for Halloween, and collecting sweets in various activities in order to discover what is now the third lore book, “Tales of the Forgotten”.
So far nothing new.
Still, the 2023 Festival of the Lost has changed one thing: the Guardians are regularly insulted. But what some people think is really good causes others to be dissatisfied.

The best thing about Halloween Event 2023 is Savathûn’s Ghost
This has changed for Halloween in 2023: While the sectors have remained the same, one thing has changed about the Halloween event. And that doesn’t mean the new Memento that is currently spreading FOMO – the fear of missing out – in Destiny 2.
It’s mainly the voicelines that differ, because in 2023 the mischievous spirit of Savathûn, Immaru, has intervened in the proceedings.
Immaru appeared in the patrols of Savathûn’s throne world after the DLC “The Witch Queen” and in the story of Season 22. Since then, he has regularly made fun of the Guardians in Destiny 2 by calling them meatballs or neo-nerds.
Destiny 2 is getting an evil spirit who thinks he’s Handsome Jack and calls us “maggots.”
Most ghosts in Destiny 2 are serious and ambitious, but also boring. Immaru, however, continues to mince his words and proves that he is not a typical ghost.
So it’s no wonder that some players felt the slight urge to crush him in one situation or another during the story campaign of Season 22.
But his days don’t seem to be numbered yet.
On Halloween, Immaru broke out of his small, dark room, to which Eris Morn had banished him after the end of the story in Season 22, and now tells the Guardians on their trips to the Haunted Sectors what he thinks of them: namely, nothing.
Immaru has received several voicelines for the 2023 Halloween event, which he gives depending on the Guardian class and sector. Some you hear very often. Others are rare, but no less funny. From creepy puns, nasty insults to dark sarcasm, it’s all here.
Even Ikora, the noble keeper of knowledge and representative of the warlocks in the vanguard, gets to fully feel the cheeky nature of the Hive spirit in a voiceline.
Alone in the sector on the moon, he becomes a little maudlin and says: “This place isn’t so bad. Cursed serfs, strictly according to the motto “All you can kill”. […] Aah, you just know how to treat a ghost.”
Entertaining, but too annoying in the long run
What does the community say about the cheeky spirit? Unfortunately, Immaru’s sayings eventually wear out and can become really annoying.
While you initially smiled at his interludes, after many runs you reach a point where you are annoyed by his voice lines. It feels like they come a little too often.
Some players are even wondering whether Bungie is overdoing it a bit with Immaru. After all, it’s hard to concentrate on the battles and quests of the Halloween event when Immaru comes around the corner with a “If something rips your head off, I’ll laugh my head off.”
Others, on the other hand, have already reached their personal Immaru limit and have even deactivated all voicelines in the game because of it.
But no matter how you see it. xDiddle takes a relaxed view of the matter: “He’s a bit annoying, yes. But that’s exactly what his character portrayal is intended to do. In a sense, he is a sort of “school bully” character. Some people may not like it, but that means it worked.”
Immaru, the infinitely arrogant spirit of Savathûn, actually seems to be the best thing about the 2023 Halloween event in Destiny 2 for some, along with the black leather memento.
He makes Guardians smile, which is good, even if he sometimes overdoes it and his sayings can get a little annoying in the long run. But you should still allow yourself to be insulted by his sayings on the way through the event and enjoy his malicious antics.
How are you doing with Immaru? Do you think he’s a successful Destiny 2 character that you’re happy to be insulted by? Or do you wish you could put it in a box and vape it with your super? Feel free to tell us in the comments.
