Annie Lööf is stepping down as leader of the Center Party, she announces at a press conference.

– I am here to give a message. I will resign as party leader, she says.

Lööf has announced his decision to resign to the party’s election committee. She will remain in office until a successor is appointed.

– It is a difficult decision to make, because I feel such warmth from centrist parties throughout the country, she says.

– But it is the right decision to make. After eleven years, it is time to hand over the baton.

She also mentions a feeling she had when she woke up the day after the election.

– It was a relief to not have been injured. A relief to be able to pick up my daughter from daycare, says Lööf.

She refers to the fact that she was subjected to threats and hatred during the election campaign.
