Anne-Lie Rydé ends her career

The 66-year-old artist has had a 45-year career. But now it ends.

“This decision has not been hastily arrived at, but has been slowly hammered out over the past few years,” she writes.

Anne-Lie Rydé was on stage in a number of different contexts, from rock to Melodifestivalen and in pub shows. Here in “Allsång på Skansen” 2020. Archive image.

Anne-Lie Rydé had her breakthrough in the late 1970s in the pop group Extra and then as a solo artist. She was awarded the Rockbjörnen by Aftonbladet in 1985 and the same year she received the Karamelodikt scholarship from Povel Ramel.

Her versatility is perhaps best illustrated by the fact that in the early 1990s she had her biggest hit in a completely different genre. On the album “Stolen kisses” she interpreted old hits and that success was later followed by a pub show.

Anne-Lie Rydé has also performed in musicals and acted as an actor in several different contexts, such as in the TV series “Rederiet” and “Tv-piratern”. Last year she appeared in “So much better”.

A few years ago, Anne-Lie Rydé suffered from cancer, but that is not something that is behind her decision.

“Perhaps I should also clarify that my type has nothing to do with the previous breast cancer, today I am cancer-free and feeling well,” she says.
