Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo kept her promise by diving into the Seine a few days before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
A few days before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, on Wednesday 24th for the first events and Friday 26th for the opening ceremony, the mayor of Paris kept her promise by diving into the Seine after numerous postponements for a wide variety of reasons. For the occasion, she was accompanied by Tony Estanguetthe president of the Olympic Games Organizing Committee, and the prefect of Île-de-France Marc Guillaume.
After Amélie Oudea Castera on Saturday morning, this is the second elected official to swim in the Seine, which, it should be remembered, will host the triathlon events during the Olympic Games. After several weeks of worry, the town hall and the regional prefecture announced generally positive results over the last two weeks. Results confirmed on Tuesday by the NGO Surfrider Foundation, which assures that the Seine can now accommodate swimmers. But be careful, just because the Seine can accommodate them today, does not mean it will be able to do so in a few days for the Olympic Games, on July 30 to be exact.
