Anna Swenn-Larsson in third place in Jasná

Yesterday’s winner in giant slalom, Sara Hector, was in fourth place after the first run – 1.36 behind leading American Mikaela Shiffrin.

Close behind Hector was Anna Swenn-Larsson in fifth place, two hundredths behind. Both were in contention for a podium place as third Melanie Meillard, Switzerland, was only a hundredth faster than Hector.

When the competition was to be decided, Anna Swenn-Larsson offered a strong second run and crossed the finish line as the new leader.

Precious miss by Hector

For the otherwise fit Sara Hector, it was all the more difficult in the second run and a miss cost her precious time. The star finished sixth with three riders remaining, and ended up in ninth place, more than two seconds behind.

For Swenn-Larsson, it is the first podium of the season. Croatian Zrinka Ljutic was second, 14 hundredths behind Shiffrin.

“We miss Petra”

– We were missing an important person today, Shiffrin said in his victory interview, referring to home jumper Petra Vlhova who was injured yesterday and now misses the rest of the season.

– We miss Petra very much and you in the audience are fantastic who stayed and cheered on the rest of us. You gave us great energy so thank you.

Hanna Aronsson Elfman ended up in 19th place.
