Anna Nordqvist’s heartbreaking words after the tragedy – now taking a break from her golf career

Anna Nordqvist returns to competition this week, but soon faces a longer break from golf following the death of her ex-husband Kevin McAlpine.

Anna Nordqvist planning to play this week the competition that has Annika Sorenstam as host at Pelican Golf Club, before she also intends to compete in the LPGA Tour Finals in Naples.

After that, the 36-year-old will take a longer break.
“I have decided to return to work and play in Florida for the next two weeks before taking a longer break to work on my physical and mental health,” writes Nordqvist on Instagram.

It was just over two weeks ago that her former husband Kevin McAlpine died, aged 39.

Nordqvist thanks for all the support.
“Thank you to everyone who thinks of me. It has been a very difficult and tough time. It will take a while before I feel like myself again,” she writes.

Furthermore, the Swede writes that she was not able to train properly as she was not feeling well. Nordqvist and McAlpine, who worked as a caddy for, among others, the American star Lexi Thompsonwent through a heartbreaking divorce during the year.

It caused Nordqvist to miss the major competition Chevron Championship and withdraw from the Scottish Open. After withdrawing from the LPGA competition in South Korea, Nordqvist said she does not know when she will compete again.
