She was one of Sweden’s foremost skiing heroes.
But today, Anna Holmlund lives a completely different life after the nasty accident.
Now she shows off the gorgeous picture of herself as she celebrates a big day.
It has been over seven years Anna Holmlunds life changed forever because of the terrible accident. In 2016, she was at the peak of her sports career and was one of Sweden’s top ski crossers.
Holmlund’s accident
The Swede had won both the Olympic bronze and the WC bronze during his career, but then the terrible thing happened during a training session in Innichen, Italy, on December 19, 2016. Holmlund lost control while skiing and crashed violently on the ski slope.

Anna suffered serious head injuries, fought for her life and there was great concern among the Swedish people. After a full five months in an artificial coma, she finally woke up and had miraculously survived.
Anna’s tough road
But a long and tough road awaited Anna Holmlund. For many years, the Swede has struggled with rehabilitation to return to a normal everyday life again.

She has been very open in social media and has become a great role model for many with her inspiring pictures and updates about everyday life. Many Swedes have followed Holmlund’s journey and with a strong will combined with great determination, Anna takes small steps forward all the time.
Praised by all
The 36-year-old is an admirable joy-spreader and now she has shared a very special day. It has been seven years since she woke up from her coma and therefore she is celebrating as reborn.
“Today I turn 7 years old! Or 7 years ago I woke up from a coma, so it’s kind of like my birthday today,” she writes on Instagram and celebrates with a glass of wine.

The picture, see below, on social media has received over 20,000 likes and an enormous number of comments from Swedes who want to congratulate and pay tribute to Holmlund.
“Congratulations and hip hip hooray on your 7th birthday. What a fantastic journey you’ve made these years, I’m so incredibly impressed. When others say it doesn’t work, you fight on and show them that it does work – what a winner,” writes a user on Instagram.
“Congratulations best Anna, you are a fighter and role model for many,” writes another.
“Many congratulations to you. You are amazing and an incredible fighter. I wish you all the best on your journey forward in life,” writes a third.
