After five months of fighting for her life in an artificial coma, Anna had miraculously survived, but her life was never the same. For many years, the Swede has struggled with rehabilitation to return to a normal everyday life again, where she has become a great role model for many with her unique will.
Anna’s great wish
Eight years after the accident, Anna Holmlund opens up about her new life with strong words that go straight to the heart.
– The absolute worst thing about my brain injury is not remembering my Olympic medal, I don’t remember anything, she says in a new documentary by Radiosporten.
– One thing I want to say to everyone: Do whatever you want, but don’t get a brain injury. Because it’s not worth it in any way.

Her former ski coach, Tommy Eliasson Winterhas tried to persuade Anna to start competing in para sports and reach the Paralympics. She herself is open that she loves to swim, but she does not miss competing.
– It’s nothing I’m aiming for. I have competed quite a lot in my life and that is enough, if you say so, she tells the radio channel.
– My right side doesn’t work, my hand doesn’t work and neither does my leg.
Holmlund’s biggest wish is to be able to run again, she also dreams of driving a car again. But those hopes have unfortunately been dashed.
– What I wish for, it doesn’t work. Not if you listen to what the doctors say, she says with sad words.
– I would like to run, I miss it very much. Of course, it’s hard to know that it will never be like that.
