Former education minister Anna Ekström (S) takes on a new assignment from the turn of the year when she becomes a member of the education committee in the city of Stockholm.
– It will be very exciting. I have done so much in my professional life that was about setting the framework for the school. Now I will be able to participate and take responsibility for Sweden’s largest school principal – the city of Stockholm. I am really grateful that I get that chance, says Ekström to Dagens Nyheter.
Anna Ekström also becomes a member of Norrmalm’s district council.
Two other social democratic ex-ministers are also involved in Stockholm politics. Johan Danielsson, former housing minister, was elected as a substitute in Hägersten-Älvsjö’s district committee and Jeanette Gustafsdotter, former culture minister, will be a substitute in the cultural committee.
