A year ago, Anna Dyvik ended her career.
Now the 29-year-old is back.
– It’s still fun to compete, she tells Expressen.
Anna Dyvik was a constant point in Sweden’s World Cup team for many years, but she had constant problems with back problems. In the end, after a couple of more difficult years where she occasionally made her own investments, outside of the national team’s auspices, it finally became too much.
Unexpected comeback
In total, it was a podium place in the World Cup as the main merit, but she also won JVM gold and two SM golds.
“I don’t know what lies ahead, but I’m very curious about the future and hungry for what there is to explore!”, said Dyvik in connection with the farewell, in March last year.
Now it turns out that it was by no means the end of Anna Dyvik’s skiing life. In an interview with Expressen, the 29-year-old reveals that she is making a comeback, as she will compete for the Robinson Trentino stable in the classic long-distance race Marcialonga in Italy this weekend. Dyvik believes that the plan from the beginning was just to drive it for fun, with friends. But that changed quickly.
– It quickly turned into me wanting to ride for a team and do well. During two months I have trained a lot. I’ve probably never staked this much in my entire life, says Dyvik to the evening newspaper.
“Doesn’t close any doors”
Anna Dyvik believes that it is “still fun to compete”, and she mentions Anna Jönsson Haag as a source of motivation. The former cross-country star competes in Ski classics as a mother of three children.
– Anna drives even though she has just given birth. So why shouldn’t I be able to? If she has had a child, then I can also drive, says Dyvik.
Anna Dyvik also believes that she is open to continuing to compete in the future.
– I don’t close any doors. If it goes well in Marcialonga, I can imagine running more races. I’m looking forward to running the long races in Orsa later this winter.
