Anna Dyvik’s open-hearted words about the tough parting – why she ends her skiing career: “I’ve had to fight”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Anna Dyvik has decided to end the season.
Now the national team Swede explains why in an open letter.
“It’s very mixed feelings, sad of course,” she writes on Instagram.

It was 2016 that Anna Dyvik made his debut at the World Cup during the Slottssprinten in Stockholm. But seven years later, the Swede, who is only 28 years old, is now ending her career prematurely.

Dyvik hangs up

As the best at the World Cup, it was a fourth place in the sprint in Falun 2018 and a fourth place in Trondheim 2020, as well as three JVM golds and two SM golds during her career. Illness and back problems have bothered the Swede during this season and now she has had enough.

Now Dyvik opens up about the tough decision to put his skis on the shelf and end his elite venture in an open-hearted post on social media.
“In 2012 I operated on my herniated disc and since then I have struggled to be able to train and compete at the level I dreamed of being at. But in recent years, the limitations in terms of training have become greater and my training everyday has actually not been particularly fun,” writes Anna on Instagram.
“So I have decided to end my career as a skier after this season. The decision has grown over the past year and it’s very mixed feelings, of course sad but I’m also so ready for new challenges!”

Anna’s honest words

Anna Dyvik has represented Sweden in a skiing World Cup and two Winter Olympics. She herself is proud of her own career and what she has achieved as a cross-country skier.
“I’m proud of my career even though I may not have achieved all my biggest dreams. And I am above all proud of how I have fought & developed as a person, how I have stood up for myself and done what I believed in. And to have been part of Swedish women’s skiing in recent years has been incredible,” she writes further on Instagram.
“What I will miss most are all the amazing people I got to know and all the experiences we have shared together. I will miss hanging around after dinner at camp and just talking shit, talking a little too long with your roommate when you should really be sleeping, being happy or disappointed about results together and meeting these absolutely amazing people, who have also become mine best friends, almost every day.”

What happens in the future is still unclear, but Dyvik is looking forward to his life as a “normal person” again.
“I don’t know what the future holds, but I am very curious about the future and hungry for what there is to explore. So thanks for me! Hello skier-Anna and hello normal Anna,” she writes.
