Sweden has several talented biathletes on the women’s side, but who is really the best?
Biathlon icon Anna-Carin Zidek knows what she thinks.
– She is someone who can afford one or two booms, says “ACO” to Sportbibeln.
Anna-Carin Zidek, formerly Anna-Carin Olofsson, was one of the best Swedish biathletes during her active years. She was often called by the nickname “ACO”, which of course comes from her previous initials.
Zidek’s successor
Zidek began his skiing career as a cross-country skier, but then switched to biathlon. As a biathlete, Anna-Carin took 15 World Cup victories and an overall victory in the distance cup. When it comes to medals, there were two Olympic medals (one of which was gold), and six WC medals (one of which was gold).

“ACO” was active for a time with several talented Swedish biathletes, such as Bear Ferry, Helena Ekholm and Carl-Johan Bergman. Now Sweden has a new generation of biathletes, who are also very talented and successful. On the women’s side it is mainly Hannah and Elvira Öberg, Lynn Persson, Mona Brorsson and Anna Magnusson it is about.
Pointing out the best
Anna-Carin Zidek has an answer to who is actually the best women’s skier right now.
– I have to say Elvira. She has performed a little better than Hanna. But then I think that Linn Persson has made a fantastic comeback after her operations and such, says “ACO” to Sportbibeln.

What makes Elvira Öberg the best right now?
– She skis very fast, extremely strong. And when she scores enough hits, she’s up there. She is someone who can perhaps afford one or two booms, depending on what the others are doing, of course, says Anna-Carin Zidek.
