[Mis à jour le 23 janvier 2024 à 16h00] The international comics festival opens its doors to the public this Thursday, January 25 in Angoulême, until Sunday, January 28. Artistic director Marguerite Demoëte wanted an edition focused on youth and creation and placed “under the sign of movement”. This 51st edition is chaired by Thomas Bangalter, co-founder of the electro music group Daft Punk, whose clip we will remember One More Time directed by Leiji Matsumoto, the creator of the manga Albator.

Japanese comics will have a special place this year with an exhibition dedicated to Hiroaki Samura, Japanese author of the cult manga The Inhabitant of the Infinitewhich follows the quest of a samurai over thirty volumes, and an exceptional retrospective of the mangaka Moto Hagio, mother of modern shōjo and more particularly of shōnen-ai, which depicts homosexual love stories.

45 albums are in the running for the official selection of the Angoulême 2024 festival, with pride of place given to European comics, manga and comics:

Masterclasses are only accessible with a Festival Pass, for an additional 12 euros. Ticket sales are only made online.

The 51st Angoulême Festival takes place over 4 days from January 25 to January 28, 2024. The presentation of the Fauves takes place on Wednesday January 24 at the opening of the festival.
