Two Swedes started in the Women’s Super League (WSL) summit between Manchester City and Chelsea.
Angeldahl in midfield for City, Magdalena Eriksson in the back line for Chelsea.
Angeldahl was the player who broke the deadlock in the event with a class goal. The midfielder cut to the ball from the edge of the penalty area – straight up into the far cross. Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger could do nothing but watch as the ball sailed past her into the goal.
Angeldahl’s goal came in the 21st minute and just ten minutes later came 2-0 signed by Lauren Hemp, which was also the final score.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd was substituted for Chelsea shortly after City’s 2–0 goal, while Zecira Musovic had to follow the match from the London club’s bench.
With the victory, City moved past Chelsea in the table. City are second with 38 points, the same number of points as Manchester United at the top after 16 rounds played. Chelsea are one point behind the Manchester clubs but have a game less played.
