(Finance) – In November 2024, the production of the Italian automotive industry records a decrease of -28.5% compared to November 2023, while in the first eleven months of 2024 it decreases by 21.7%. Looking at the individual sectors, he explains Anfia, the motor vehicle manufacturing index records a negative trend change of -37.5% in November 2024 and decreases by 28.2% in the first eleven months of 2024 compared to the same period of 2023; that of the manufacturing of car bodies, trailers and semi-trailers fell by -2.7% in the month and grew by 7.8% in the cumulative, and that of the manufacturing of parts and accessories fell by -21.3% in November and -19.6% in the period January-November 2024.
According to i preliminary data Anfia, there domestic production of cars only in November 2024 it amounts to approximately 23 thousand units, down by 50.4% compared to November 2023. In the cumulative eleven months, however, over 295 thousand cars were produced, down by 42.3% compared to January-November 2023.
“Even in November, the Italian automotive production index, at -28.5%, confirms the negative trend that began in March 2024 – he states Gianmarco Giorda, general director of Anfia –. According to Anfia’s estimates, domestic vehicle production volumes for the whole of 2024 should be below 600 thousand units. In the perspective of a still critical 2025 both on the market and production front, the hope, based on the recent announcements for the new models in production in the Italian plants, is that 2026 can restart with production volumes at least in line with the levels of 2022-23″.
TO January-September 2024 (latest data available), theexport of motor vehicles (new cars and industrial vehicles) from Italy is worth 13.6 billion euros, while imports are worth 27.1 billion euros. The United States represent, in value, the first destination country for motor vehicle exports from Italy, with a share of 18.7%, followed by Germany (15.2%) e France (11.5%). In the same period, the export of automotive components was worth 18.7 billion euros, with a positive balance of 5.1 billion euros. The turnover of the automotive sector as a whole showed a decline of 20.7% in October (latest data available), due to an internal component falling by 24.5% and a foreign component at -17%. In the first ten months of 2024, turnover fell by 13.5% (-16.7% domestic turnover and -10.4% foreign turnover).
