Our guest: Andrei KourkovRussian-speaking Ukrainian writer. From The Pinedykehis novels which combine absurdity, humor and adventure are translated around the world. He has published nearly twenty in France. The A’sgray beauties (ed Liana Levi) received the 2022 Medici Prize. The continuation of the adventures of Samson Koletchko, the hero of his latest books The heart of kyiv And kyiv’s ear (ed Liana Levi) will appear in a few months. He also published The Maidan newspaper, story of everyday life in times of revolution.

Since 2014, and even more so in 2022, a phenomenon has emerged: the rise of Ukrainian-language bookstores. It is notably following a law banning the importation of Russian and Belarusian literature adopted in 2023 that Russian books gave way to Ukrainian books, which are booming. Russian-speaking writers are published in Ukrainian. At the start of the year, the country, still in the middle of war, had more than 460 bookstores.
