Andreas Kramer is ready for the summer Olympics in Paris – after the successful World Cup silver

In March, Andreas Kramer took silver at the indoor WC in the 800 meters – now he gets the go-ahead for this summer’s Paris Olympics.
There he is joined by the handball ladies and the table tennis couple Stina Källberg and Kristian Karlsson.

The Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) announces that the squad for this summer’s Olympics in Paris is growing. The Swedish handball ladies secured their place in the qualifying game this weekend and now also get the official go-ahead from the SOK. From before, the men’s handball – via the European Championship bronze earlier this year – is ready and it is the fourth time in a row that both national teams are in the Olympic tournament.

“With two handball teams ready for the games, the Swedish squad looks to be well over 100 active. Right now the squad contains just under 80 names”, says Peter ReineboSOK’s squad leader, in a press release.

For the first time, Sweden will field a mixed doubles pair in table tennis. Last week passed Stina Källberg and Christian Karlsson the international qualification rules and now SOK gives the thumbs up. Blue and yellow table tennis teams on both the women’s and men’s sides have already been selected.

Even the 800-meter runner Andreas Kramer can plan for the summer Olympics. Kramer went under the international qualifying time (1.44.70) already when he reached the semi-finals of the WC in Budapest in August. In March, the 27-year-old won his first medal in a global championship when he won silver at the Indoor WC in Glasgow.
“Exciting teams and names in an Olympic squad that looks stronger than last time in Tokyo,” says Peter Reinebo.

In mid-May, additional actives are taken out. The Olympics in Paris open on July 26.
