Andrea Möllerberg was fired as general secretary of the Swedish Football Association. Something she saw coming.
– I was prepared for it, she says to the site Fotbolldirekt.
She calls the criticism against her “one-sided”.
Andrea Mollerberg assumed the role of general secretary of the Swedish Football Association on November 1, 2023. During her time, the association has been stormed, mainly concerning the change work she herself led. On Monday, she was fired.
Möllerberg’s own words about the announcement
This is what she herself says about the message she received from the former prime minister, now chairman of the Swedish Football Association, Fredrik Reinfeldt.
– I was prepared for it. I had received some background information before, that there would be a meeting. I was calm and it was nice to get the message in a way – then you could relate to it. Better that than living in uncertainty. It was Fredrik Reinfeldt who called and told me about it, she tells Fotbolldirekt.

According to board chairman Fredrik Reinfeldt, the board was in agreement with its decision “based on a collective assessment over a longer period of time linked to the trust issue”.
– Everything is in the eye of the beholder. My view is that there are those who are critical, but there are also those who have great confidence in me. It becomes so tangible during this day, she says.
Andrea Möllerberg thanks for the support
She continues by stating that she is proud of what she has achieved during her time as Secretary General.
– There are so many people who have contacted me – I feel even more proud than I actually thought I would, says Möllerberg to Fotbolldirekt.

Regarding the criticism of her leadership style, Möllerberg says that it is a bit “one-sided”:
– I am incredibly straightforward, honest and direct – that’s who I am. I think that is a strength but I also understand that other people may be used to a different leadership. It would be strange if I said that someone is wrong because they have felt or experienced it a certain way. But it’s a bit one-sided, I must say.
