Andrea Möllerberg has taken over responsibility for Swedish football.
On Wednesday, she will take over as general secretary of the association.
– I genuinely believe that I can make a difference in many different ways, she says in an interview with TV4 Nyheterna.
Last spring, the Swedish Football Association announced that Håkan Sjöstrand is stepping down as general secretary. His replacement is called Andrea Möllerberg and on Wednesday she began her work leading Swedish football.
In an interview with TV4 Nyheterna, she says that it was a matter of course to take over the assignment.
– I genuinely believe that I can make a difference in many different ways, she says.
“Want to connect us in a clearer way”
Andrea Möllerberg has previously been district manager for the Stockholm Football Association. Now she hopes to be able to unite the different building blocks of Swedish football.
– We must work together to lift Swedish football internationally and for Swedish football to live throughout the country, out in the districts. It’s a big challenge but I think it’s important. I want to tie us together in a clearer way, a more open and accommodating way, says the new general secretary.
Andrea Möllerberg believes that being a woman in a male-dominated organization can have several advantages.
– Swedish football has come a long way in equality work, but we are obviously not satisfied. It is also connected to my own role. I am a woman where the norm is a man, and I hope that with the experience I have as a woman I can add things and take further steps in the equality work, says Andrea Möllerberg.
– I believe that better equality will lead to better equality around diversity and inclusion.
