On Friday, the Public Health Authority went out and warned of fake films, so -called Deep Fakes, which is spread with former state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell to trick people into buying different products, or click on to other sites, via Facebook.
“Prostatitis fears this cheap drug like fire” it says in one of the ads. In the clip you can see Anders Tegnell – or at least a manipulated copy of him – sit and talk about the need for drugs to treat prostatitis without “it is enough to make a simple decision before you go to bed”. Then “Anders Tegnell” encourages the viewer to click on a link.
– The worst thing is that they are deceiving people who are obviously very vulnerable already – because they are sick, older and may have poor finances. Using me to deceive them even more feels very bad, says Anders Tegnell.
Tegnell is not alone in being exploited. Other well -known doctors, including Agnes Wold, have been affected, which Today’s NewsR reported at the end of June. According to Johan Halling, crime prevention coordinator at the Fraud Section in the Stockholm Region Stockholm, the fraudsters want to steal people’s account information, he told the newspaper. The police had at the time received about ten reports of the clips from both deceived private individuals and doctors who were used.
In addition to the financial risks that the fake ads entail, Anders Tegnell sees that it has direct risks to human health.
– You risk treating problems that you have in the wrong way, he says.
Anders Tegnell has an understanding that people are attracted by the headings on these ads and click on the links that promise gold and green forests.
– The clips are very well made in many ways so that I can really understand that if you are not familiar with the government world or have medical knowledge then I think it is quite easy to fall for it unfortunately.
