Anders Svensson is Sweden’s very best national team player on the men’s side.
But despite the long and solid football career, there has been room for more interests than that in his life.
In the podcast “Fördomspodden” he now reveals one of them – which apart from football is perhaps the biggest.
In December 2013 announced Anders Svensson, 46, that he is quitting the national team since Sweden failed to qualify for the WC in Brazil. Svensson had then played 148 international matches for Sweden, which has made him the player who played the most matches for the Swedish national team on the men’s side.
Unknown interest
The big breakthrough at club team level came in the late 1990s at Elfsborg, which eventually prompted English club Southampton to open their wallets and sign the midfielder. It was then four years in England before he returned to Allsvenskan and Elfsborg in 2005. He remained there until his career ended after the 2015 season.

It is easy to imagine that football has taken up large parts of Anders Svensson’s life considering his long career. But there has certainly been room for other things as well. In the podcast “Fördomspodden” he reveals that he has a great interest in film.

“I’m magical”
Over the years, he has also excelled with his knowledge during national team meetings.
– I’m actually incredibly sharp at film quizzes, I’m magical. Back in the day, I had an incredible amount of films on VHS and DVD, and I know we had some sort of quiz with the national team when we were on a trip. Then I asked all the questions. It could be the movie “Die Hard” but then you would have to point out exactly which movie it was and two or three actors, then I was all right, says Anders Svensson in the podcast.

However, there is not as much film watching these days, since the career has ended.
– It won’t be as much as when you traveled by yourself and lived by yourself in England, there was an extremely large amount of film back then, he says.
