Anders Limpar made a real impression in England.
So much so that he even got Vinnie Jones himself upset.
Now he reveals the Archduke’s words – which he never ever forgets.
You really must never forget what an incredible player Anders Limpar was. It was not easy to break through in the English league during the late 80s and early 90s, but Anders Limpar was not like other players. With his speed and technique, he took the whole league by storm, and it led him to play in some serious big clubs.
Incredible meeting with Jones
Anders Limpar won the FA Cup on two occasions, the English League Cup once, the Golden Ball on one occasion – and then a league title. Anders Limpar was nicknamed “Super Swede” at Arsenal, and that says a lot about his status. Limpar always dared to be himself on the field, he always fought and gave everything for the club brand, and that earned him the respect of the fans.
Anders Limpar has described it as “meeting killers”, and it was certainly a time where football was tougher than today – and especially if you weren’t British. Anders Limpar particularly remembers his first meeting with an unknown fool.
– An opponent stepped straight into our dressing room before a match. He just shouted: “were is that motherfucking swede” and then he walked up to me and shouted that he would knock me down if I fell in their penalty area, says Limpar to Expressen.

“He’s completely crazy”
Anders Limpar was confused. But was this the fool who stomped into the wrong dressing room and roared about him? He asked his teammate who it was.
– Vinnie Jones. Don’t go near him. He’s totally crazy.
Anders Limpar played at Arsenal from 1990 to 1994, then left to play at Everton. After a year in Birmingham, where injuries began to take over, Limpar returned home to Sweden and AIK. After a stint in the USA and the Colorado Rapids, and then a season with the Brommapojkarna, he ended his career in 2002. Anders Limpar also played 58 games with the Swedish national team, and was part of the squad that won bronze in the World Cup in 1994. However, he was only allowed to make one entry into the tournament, that after being a regular in the qualifiers there.
