Soon it will be time for the biggest challenge of the season for the skiers.
Then Anders Blomquist believes in the Swedish gentlemen.
– They can join and fight all the way, says the SVT expert.
The ski season is in full swing, and it has started quite well for Sweden – at least on the women’s side. There have been several victories and a whole bunch of podium places, there Ebb Andersson, Emma Ribom, Moa Ilarand Lynn Svahn stuck out a little extra.
Tips the Tour
The men’s side has been a little more unlucky. Marcus Grate has injured himself, William Poromaa contracted covid-19 and injured his back, and Calle Halfvarsson has been a hair’s breadth from a podium place. Hardly surprising, it has been the Norwegians who have dominated so far in the World Cup.

The Tour de Ski is coming up soon. This year’s edition will be extra important for the skiers because it is a championship-free season, and the Tour de Ski is the only competitions of the year in addition to the World Cup. There, too, the Norwegians are expected to have a certain advantage.
– It is clear that the Norwegian riders are favourites. I have a hard time seeing how someone should maneuver out Johannes Hösflot Kläbo. It feels as if he has a handle on that now, says Anders Blomquist to SVT.
But the former skier still believes that the Swedes can join in and challenge.
– After the weekend in Trondheim, I am much more optimistic, with Poromaa back, Burman back, and Calle continuing to ride well, and improving a little more without having real flow, so it looks better than in a long time I think for the men’s squad. Anger is also an exciting contender, says Blomquist.

Poromaa is starting to recover from illness and injury, and Halfvarsson’s form curve is going up. The 34-year-old was 1.9 seconds from the podium during Sunday’s race.
– If William and Calle can float, they can join and fight all the way, says Anders Blomquist to the channel’s website.
