On Saturday, Stina Nilsson makes her long-distance debut.
Now comes a warning to all other competitors.
SVT expert Anders Blomquist says what everyone wants to hear before the weekend.
It was in April that Stina Nilsson announced that she is leaving biathlon after four seasons and switching sports to long-distance running instead. Now it’s time on Saturday to make a debut in Ski Classics.
Nilsson makes his debut
Stina has already impressed in her new sport during the pre-season by defeating the long-distance star Emilie Fleten on roller skis over nine miles. On Saturday, the Swede will make her competition debut in Bad Gastein and now comes a warning to all competitors.

The SVT expert Anders Blomquist gives his verdict on Stina Nilsson ahead of the new ski venture.
– I think it will go better than many expect, he says to the TV channel.
– If she joins a riot, I think the others will be very afraid of her. They should be.
Blomquist about Stina
During the weekend, first there is an interval race of seven kilometers and then a longer race of 36 kilometers.
– There are two races that suit her well. Partly the individual race that she is used to, which is also a shorter race without any really steep climbs. And partly the longer race with a mass start, says skiing expert Blomquist.
– She has surpassed herself many times, so I see everything possible when it comes to Stina.

Anders Blomquist mainly points out two important keys for Nilsson to succeed as a long-distance skier.
– There are several things, for one thing she has to set the technique and be persistent in getting pressure in the strike, and she has not worked with that before. I know that she has trained very well, but it’s a little up to proof of course, he says to SVT.
– But then there is a lot to do with her speed and ability to sprint in a riot against other skaters. It is important for her to be in the race all the way, because then anything can happen.
