In the hit program “Over the Atlantic” we get to follow a group of Swedish celebrities who will take on the challenge of sailing across the Atlantic. Often they have limited sailing skills, and they have the circumnavigator and the captain to help them Gunnar “Gurra” Krantz.
The program is broadcast on Kanal 5 and Max and in previous seasons we have seen, among other things Agneta Sjödin, Tareq Taylor, Nassim Al Fakir, Henrik Larsson and Eva Röse. During the autumn of 2024, we will be able to follow a completely new gang that is throwing loose.

A standing feature of “Over the Atlantic” is usually the extreme seasickness that occurs during the first days at sea, where more than one of the participants tends to hang over the railing of the boat. Anders “Ankan” Johansson, on the other hand, was one of the few who escaped the nausea, something he tells about News24.
– I am zero percent seasick. I think I was the only one who could do without it, apart from Gurra back then. But I was alone in this. It makes good TV with people vomiting while eating dinner at the same time, of course.

It is also not unusual for someone to sustain an injury during the recording. For example, the reality profile Maria Montazamiwho starred in season five of “Over the Atlantic,” hurt herself badly when she slipped on the wet deck and suffered internal bleeding in her arm. And this season was no exception on the injury front.
– Yes, they are some scary injuries. The first night we get an injury that puts a passenger out of action. So it starts a bit dramatically, says Anders “Ankan” Johansson.

Ankan Johansson about the dramatic night in “Over the Atlantic”
Being out in the middle of the open sea under dramatic weather conditions, and with limited knowledge can mean that scary situations often arise in the program. Ankan Johansson tells about an occasion during the “Over the Atlantic” recording when he actually got really scared.
– Yes, there was an occasion when I got a little scared. It is also quite unlikely that you are in the middle of the Atlantic, and one night we came a little close to colliding. Then it got a little dramatic. I was tasked to go ahead and fix something and the sea was washing over the boat and stuff like that. So then it was a bit scary really. Otherwise, the sea itself is big, and it’s scary.
