Alert in several departments. This week, the cold gives way to rain and heavy showers will follow in the coming days.
After a weekend marked by heavy showers, particularly in the southern regions of France, the sky does not seem to want to calm down at the start of the week and showers, certainly less heavy than those of last Sunday, are still expected until the weekend across the country. The Cévennes episode continues until Wednesday, and seven departments in the south of France are still on orange vigilance from Météo Consult with a risk of flooding in the south of the Massif Central and in Languedoc.
The departments of Ardèche, Aveyron, Gard, Hérault, Haute-Loire, Lozère and Tarn are affected by the risk of flooding due to bad weather which continues while the soils are already loaded with water. These floods could start as early as Tuesday due to the very significant accumulations (300 to 400 mm locally) observed since last Friday.
The torrents of rain from the weekend continue in these seven departments and are starting to rise towards the north of the country while weakening. From Monday evening the cloudy depression will have spread across the whole country and the storms absent during the day will be heard. The weather remains humid throughout France and evening temperatures should vary between 8 and 18°C for the lucky ones.
This Tuesday, the rainy episode continues in the Mediterranean regions and the Massif Central. In the north of the country, showers are also forecast throughout the day. With 2°C in the morning, only Cherbourg seems to be spared from the bad weather of the day even if the sky should become cloudy at the start of the afternoon. A large variation in temperatures could be observed for the day on Tuesday, The Weather Channel announces temperatures between 11 and 20°C for the western half of the country and up to 24°C in Corsica and 26°C in Strasbourg.
Wednesday will be a mostly rainy day. Plan an outing to a covered area where you will need to bring an umbrella. The low-pressure episode is intensifying over the southern third, with relatively low temperatures for the season, and heavy showers continue. A depression will position itself across the whole of France except in Alsace which maintains high temperatures and relatively clear skies. Everywhere else, rain and thunderstorms are expected, temperatures remain cool but stable compared to the day before, between 10 and 17°C.
On Thursday, the cold drop phenomenon, which began last weekend, continues with still low temperatures. This time the cold will reach the north-eastern regions which had until now been spared. Showers remain abundant from north to south and the wind seems to be picking up on the northern and Mediterranean coast. On Friday, the rain finally leaves most of the country but the sky remains heavy with clouds, a few showers are still expected in Hauts de France and Pays de la Loire, before getting better this weekend.
