Analyst has criticized WoW for years, now praises the end of Shadowlands, says: “It’s a win”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

The well-known YouTuber Bellular is one of the biggest critics of World of Warcraft. He regularly looks at the latest data on the game and has usually drawn a grim conclusion in recent years. However, the latest figures make him smile visibly pleased.

Who is the Analyst?

YouTuber Bellular settles accounts with WoW: “They kill Warcraft”

This is what Bellular now says: In his latest video, Bellular again analyzes numbers from raids and dungeons that were playable in Shadowlands Season 4 (via YouTube). What was special about Season 4 was that it was a “Best Of” patch.

Instead of new content, all of the Shadowlands raids were re-tuned with “fatal” affixes, and dungeons from old expansions came back as Mythic+ versions. This is the first time something like this has happened.

Bellular shows that this attempt was a success. The season didn’t necessarily bring more players back, but it did motivate those who remained to play more and achieve things they couldn’t before:

  • fewer players would have visited raids, but more would actually have completed the raids
  • On average, 93.04% of players who would have defeated the first boss in normal mode would also have defeated the final boss of the raids
  • for comparison: Antorus previously had the highest completion rate in Legion with 85.36%
  • in heroic mode the completion rate is still 60.5%
  • Antorus had 44.05% here
  • It gets even crazier. According to Bellular’s data, the number of guilds that have set the Jailer, the ultimate final boss, to Mythic has increased by 1,750%. Before Season 4 only 18 guilds would have made it, in the season already 333.

Shadowlands Season 4 has achieved something that no previous expansion has achieved and shows that the “Best Of” experiment was a good idea. We have included the full video for you here:

“Season 4 is a limited success”

Bellular continues to explore the dungeons in Season 4. Here he shows that weeks after the release of the season, about the same number of dungeons were completed as in the previous seasons. This is not a visible growth, but at least not the decline in player numbers that one can otherwise observe.

In general, Shadowlands managed to keep players busy with Season 4 than all previous seasons. This is partly due to the fact that the content drought was simply missing. Players would always have something to do because they could always work towards something new and better, such as unlimited bravery points and the creation catalyst.

Asmongold, the largest World of Warcraft Twitch streamer, agrees. In his video, he agrees with almost all of Bellular’s points (via YouTube). He even wishes that Blizzard should do something like Season 4 more often.

With a series of short films, Blizzard whets the appetite for Dragonflight and is already teasing a big plot twist in the story:

Bellular concludes his analysis by saying:

Season 4 is a limited success and that’s all it could ever have been. […] The idea of doing something like a greatest hits remastered season at the end of an expansion is just wonderful. It takes what is usually a content drought and makes something out of it. It’s nice to make a data video that doesn’t go completely somber.

Bellular is visibly happy and can’t help but smile. He hopes that the upcoming Dragonflight expansion will also be successful. In our special on MeinMMO you will find all information about the new expansion:
