At one time, Argonaut was working on a “Crash vs. Spyro Racing” game for the original Xbox.
YouTuber Modern Vintage Gamer has unearthed an unreleased “Crash vs. Spyro Racing” game designed for the original Xbox. This crossroads game, prepared by Argonaut in 2003/2004, was not completed due to the studio’s closure. However, twenty years later, we can see the intro video, start screen and gameplay sections of this game.
A Never Released Crash Vs Spyro Racing Game Has Been Discovered
Modern Vintage Gamer found a mysterious game called “LT Demo” among some files in a development kit. This game was later developed into Crash vs. He discovered that Spyro Racing would be exactly that. The game looks absolutely simple and unfinished; In fact, players do not play as Crash or Spyro, they can only be in the game with two general racers.
MVG came up with an intro video sequence in which characters Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon prepare to start the race. In the video, two characters are seen competing for first place.
Back in the past, in 1999, Naughty Dog released Crash Team Racing, a game similar to Mario Kart. While Spyro does not have its own racing game, a DLC called Spyro and Friends was released in the reimagined CTR in 2019. This DLC revived this crossover game, which was canceled 20 years ago.
In 2021, a user on an Italian forum stated that Argonaut had a project called “Crash vs. Spyro Racing”. However, evidence was lacking as to whether these claims were true. The truth of these claims has been proven with the data found by Modern Vintage Gamer.
The reason why this game is called “LT Demo” is because we understand from the title screen that the game was developed by LT Studios. MVG confirmed this information when they found the LT logo featured in the launch video. So, what role did Argonaut play in this project? LT Studios was founded in 1999 and became part of Argonaut Games in 2002. The information obtained by MVG supports who developed this canceled racing game.
