A content creator with fewer than 3,000 subscribers on YouTube shows a conversation with Elon Musk in which the tech billionaire allegedly admits to cheating in games like Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4.
What is Elon Musk and PoE2 all about? The tech billionaire is a die-hard gamer – or at least wants to be recognized as such. Musk seems to be particularly fond of action role-playing games; he has already expressed his enthusiasm for Elden Ring, Diablo 4 and currently Path of Exile 2.
However, it wasn’t enough for Musk to just play the games, he also wanted to be at the top – and that was exactly what became his downfall in Path of Exile 2 when players expressed doubts about whether he had actually leveled up his high-ranking characters himself. He is said to have paid others to play the characters for him.
During a gameplay demonstration, Musk was even openly laughed at by two of the game’s biggest streamers.
So that you aren’t as clueless as Elon Musk in Path of Exile 2, we have a tip for you:
Elon Musk should boost to keep up with Asians
Now this is the twist: The YouTuber NikoWrex has now published a conversation that he allegedly had with Elon Musk. This is also surprising because he only has around 2,840 subscribers on YouTube, making him a rather smaller creator.
In a series of private messages on Elon Musk answers this with a “100” emoji, which is interpreted as “Yes, absolutely.”
He also points to joint streams with well-known gaming influencers about the games and explains that otherwise it would be impossible to beat players in Asia because they would use exactly these methods. To win leveling races in Path of Exile, multiple people would have to be on one account.
Musk also emphasizes that he would always play a game himself in videos or streams. In addition, he never wanted to claim to have leveled up the characters himself.
Is that real? To show that he really spoke to the real Elon Musk, he clicks on the tech billionaire’s name in his private messages on X, which opens his profile.
However, the YouTuber also shows at this point that Elon Musk follows him on X. However, the YouTuber cannot be found on Musk’s X profile and hacktrix’s Twitter Follow Check also shows that Musk does not follow NikoWrex on X.
Addendum 7:30 p.m. – Elon Musk reposted the video on his X account, which speaks for its authenticity.
However, it cannot be ruled out that Musk unfollowed the YouTuber, as he previously did with Asmongold. You can watch the video here:
Admission doesn’t convince viewers
This is how it is discussed: Below NikoWrex’s video, viewers are not too convinced by the video. They complain that the YouTuber avoids criticizing Elon Musk.
Viewers say that NikoWrex was hopefully well paid for the video or even demand that it be marked as “sponsored content”. They seem to resent Musk less for allegedly paying other players to gamble than for boasting about their performance on podcasts and on X.
Twitch streamers Asmongold and Quin69, who had made extensive fun of the tech billionaire’s gameplay, also seemed unconvinced by the explanation.
In a reaction on YouTube, Asmongold explains: If you present something as your account, people will automatically assume that you have earned the things on it yourself. He also judges that RMTing – trading real money for in-game achievements or characters – is still cheating and not an achievement in itself.
Quin69 accused Elon Musk of intentionally duping people and compared him to an athlete who would take part in the Olympics while doped (via YouTube).
Twitch streamer Asmongold felt he was being treated unfairly after criticizing Elon Musk. He said: The last time he felt like that was with an angry ex-girlfriend. Asmongold says Elon Musk treated him like an angry ex-girlfriend after argument over Path of Exile 2
