In Burkina Faso, Mousbila Sankara, the uncle of the late President Thomas Sankara, arrested on June 11 at dawn while returning from the mosque, was finally released on the evening of June 12. It was agents of the National Intelligence Agency who brought him back to his home around 7:30 p.m., after two days of interrogations in their premises in Ouagadougou. After reassuring him about his state of health, the ex-unionist said he was treated correctly. He returned to the purpose of his arrest.

With a rather calm and confident voice, El Hadj Mousbila Sankara claims to have been questioned initially on a video. Video in which people who would have prepared an attempt to overthrow power cite his name and assign him tasks in their company, explains the person concerned, without further details.
“ I denied it, naturally. There was a confrontation and it turned out that we didn’t know each other », affirmed the ex-unionist and companion of the Sankarist revolution.
“ It was direct and courteous despite our differences »
Exonerated regarding this alleged attempt to overthrow the putschists in power, Mousbila Sankara was then questioned about his writings and statements in the press. This is an allusion to a public letter published on May 12, in which he, as his elder, his junior, had questioned the president of the transition Ibrahim Traoré, on certain shortcomings linked to the management of the country by the putschists. In particular, he recommended respecting the fundamental rights of workers and opening public space to citizens to express their freedom.
“ They asked me questions, I answered them “, he emphasizes. “ It was direct and courteous despite our differences “, explains the uncle of “ hero of the Burkinabè nation ”, who promises to show himself “ more careful » to no longer cause such anguish to those close to him.
But the old man, famous for his outspokenness, added immediately: “ I am not afraid because what I have just experienced is the life of many Burkinabè people. »
