A new generation of more sustainable and eco-responsible offices is emerging. This trend is perfectly illustrated by an office bike presented at CES 2023, in Las Vegas, which allows you to exercise and recharge your computer while working.

It is the Taiwanese manufacturer Acer which presents this hybrid office of a whole new kind. Called eKinekt BD 3, it was designed to stay active even while working sitting behind your computer. Two modes of pedaling are offered. The “work” mode offers an upright position and a close desk while in the “sport” mode, the tray is positioned a little further forward, leaving more space to lean into the racing position and leave more amplitude in the legs to pedal. A dedicated mobile application makes it possible to follow the evolution of its performance over time, with information concerning the duration of the exercise or the calories burned.

Note that the energy produced by pedaling is used to charge laptops or other terminals connected to the office, thanks to its three integrated USB ports (2 USB-A and 1 USB-C). By pedaling, the office bike converts kinetic energy into electrical charge. Pedaling for an hour at 60 revolutions per minute can thus generate up to 75 watts of energy, which is enough to recharge your computer and/or another terminal.

Finally, this office bike is also intended to be eco-responsible since it is partly made of recycled plastic, both in terms of its tray and the frame.

After an exclusive release in Taiwan in April, the eKinekt BD 3 will be available worldwide from June for the equivalent of 999 euros.

Discover why pedaling to produce electricity, in stations, sports halls and at work, has become a popular practice.
