An iPhone without recharging port, why Apple’s new idea is not that stupid

An iPhone without recharging port why Apples new idea is

Apple would have found a method to bypass European regulations which force it to have a USB-C port on the iPhone.

For a few years now, Apple has been forced to add a USB-C port to its famous iPhone. This decision does not come from the firm itself, but rather from new European standards which oblige manufacturers to offer a port to recharge unique on their devices.

Except that this USB-C port is not really to Apple’s taste. The company has done everything to avoid having to remove the traditional Lightning port from theiphonebut in vain. From the iPhone 15, all the smartphones offered by Apple are equipped with a USB-C port … but that may well change.

According to the Bloomberg media, Apple would continue to study several options to bypass European regulations as to the load of the iPhone load. Among the proposals studied, we find a rather incongruous and which would have been tested on the future iPhone 17 to come in September 2025: the pure and simple deletion of the Port of Recharge.

Why delete the iPhone charging port?

European regulations are simple on paper: devices that have a charging port must be equipped with a USB-C. However, this rule does not apply for devices that do not have a port like the Apple Watch which is recharged by induction with a wireless port. A technique that would have inspired Apple to the point of imagining a new iPhone that would have no port.

The new iPhone 17 Air (of which you can find all the latest rumors on our site), would have, at a time of its design, been designed without any charging port. Users would then only have a solution to use a wireless charging, in particular via Magsafe.

No charging port, no obligation to have USB-C. It’s as simple as that. The Bloomberg media nevertheless specifies that this idea would have been abandoned during the design of the iPhone 17 Air. Journalist Mark Gurman still specifies that this new model still would not have a SIM card drawer and that only virtual SIMs would be usable. However, it will be necessary to wait until September to have confirmation of the specificities of the new iPhone 17 Air which should be much finer than the previous smartphones of the firm.
