The Competition Authority announced today that an investigation has been launched into electric vehicle charging stations on the Istanbul-Izmir O-5 Highway.

The Competition Board, which discussed the information, documents and determinations obtained in the preliminary investigation in its meeting dated 04.07.2024, found the findings serious and sufficient and;
– It was stated that Articles 4 and 6 of Law No. 4054 were violated due to the exclusivity practices of Otoyol İşletme ve Bakım AŞ (OİB) and ZES Dijital Ticaret AŞ (ZES) in the charging network management market on the O-5 Motorway,
-In addition, it was decided to open an investigation regarding the violation of Article 6 of Law No. 4054 regarding OIB by discriminating among the undertakings in the charging network management market, with the number 24-28/679-M.

OIB is the sole operator of the service facilities called Oksijen located on the Istanbul-Izmir O-5 Highway, which connects Kocaeli and Izmir via the Osmangazi Bridge. ZES operates in the installation and operation of electric vehicle charging stations throughout Turkey.”
