The man had apparently had an epileptic fit.
An Indian man who was thought to be dead came back to life just as his funeral pyre was being set on fire, local medical authorities said on Saturday.
A 25-year-old man with speech and hearing difficulties was taken to a hospital in Jhunjhunu in the western Indian state of Rajasthan on Thursday. According to the Indian media, the man had suffered an epileptic fit.
The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, but no autopsy was performed. However, the doctor wrote the autopsy report despite this.
When the man was taken to the stake to be burned according to Hindu tradition, he suddenly started to move. A representative of the local hospital confirmed that the man was alive and breathing when he was rushed back to the hospital.
However, the man died in the hospital on Friday while he was being treated.
Three doctors have been arrested and the police have started investigations into the incident.
