An important detail has been changed in the Avatar 2

The teaser for Avatar 2: The Way of Water suggests big things. The first moving glimpse of James Cameron’s sci-fi spectacle captivates with opulent technology and preparations for a great battle. Apparently that was just too much for Disney. The producers had a detail changed in the trailer, so as not to frighten off watching children.

No weapon in the teaser: Disney changes detail in the Avatar 2 trailer

After the release of the uncut trailer on the Internet, it is currently being shown before cinema screenings of other Disney films, in the USA before Lightyear, for example. The Wrap noticed a small but crucial change. When Jake (Sam Worthington) climbs out of the water on the back of a flying animal, he is holding a spear in his hand. In the previous version it is a rifle.

Disney has always been very careful about its overall family-friendly orientation. The background to the change could also be the recent killing sprees at US schools and universities, because of which the local gun law in particular is being hotly debated. In addition, the US version of the FSK provides certain guidelines for theatrical trailer content. They must match the age rating for the film being shown. The Lightyear viewers (with us: FSK 6) should obviously rather see a spear than an automatic rifle.
