There was almost a Sailor Moon movie in which Uranus and Neptune appeared for the first time. The story should have revolved around the two warriors, but ended up in a completely different anime.
What kind of film would that have been? Kunihiko Ikuhara was the director for the film Sailor Moon Super S. He had the idea that Uranus and Neptune would play the main roles instead of Sailor Moon. The story should be independent of the series and introduce the two warriors into the franchise for the first time.
Sailor Neptune was supposed to be in a 1000-year sleep in a place called “The End of the World.” Urans should have stolen a Sailor Talisman to resurrect Neptune.
There should have been a chase scene in which Sailor Moon rides on a white Pegasus behind Sailor Neptune on a black Pegasus. The climax of the whole thing was supposed to be a fight between the two warriors on the flying horses.

The Sailor Moon movie became another anime
Why did the film never happen? Even before production began, the film’s producer left the animation studio. It would still have been possible for Ikuhara to make the film without the producer. But since the two developed the idea together, the director also left the animation studio.
What happened to the idea? However, he couldn’t get the idea of the “end of the world” out of his head. That’s why he incorporated the part of the story into the anime Revolutionary Girl Utena. The anime is also a magical girl series like Sailor Moon and started in 1997. Ikuhara worked here as a director.
