It was reported that 112 people were injured in the explosion that occurred in the sodium carbonate factory in Firuzabad, Fars province of Iran.

EXPLOSION OCCURRED

According to Iran’s semi-official agency Tesnim, the explosion occurred due to a leak in one of the tanks at the Firuzabad sodium carbonate factory.

Fars State Medical Emergency and Accident Center Director Muhammed Javad Muradiyan stated in a written statement that 112 people have been injured in the fire caused by the explosion so far.

MANY TEAM DISPATCHED TO THE SITE

Noting that there were also those who were poisoned by gas among the injured, Muradiyan stated that the injured were transferred to Firuzabad Hospital.

The Iranian official stated that 14 ambulances, 115 emergency vehicles, a bus ambulance and a helicopter were sent to the scene to respond to the injured.

Fars Governorate Crisis Management Center Director Halil Abdullahi also stated that the scene was evacuated quickly and there was no loss of life as a result of the explosion.

Cem-Firuzabad road was also closed to crossings due to the spread of the fire to other tanks of the factory and the spread of gas. (AA)
