Paper Girls adapts the popular graphic novel series by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang and brings all the ingredients to make it build on the success of Stranger Things to: Small-town teenagers whizzing through an 80’s on their bikes, loads of teenage angst and an exciting sci-fi mystery at its core. Amazon has now published the first pictures.
Amazon’s Stranger Things: That’s what the time travel adventure Paper Girls is all about
In the early hours of November 1st 1988 Four teenage girls, Erin (Riley Lai Nelet), Mac (Sofia Rosinsky), Tiffany (Camryn Jones), and KJ (Fina Strazza), deliver newspapers on their bikes in the small town of Stony Stream. They never imagined that they would find themselves in the middle of a time traveler conflict the day after Halloween. And suddenly the four newspaper girls are catapulted into the future.

In their new environment, they must find a way to travel back in time and also encounter future versions of themselves. In doing so, they have to realize that their lives in this timeline have turned out very differently than they had hoped. The youngsters soon found themselves in great danger. Because the powerful time traveler faction of the Old Watch, which has banned time travel, is hunting them down.

The first season of the coming-of-age sci-fi series Paper Girls consists of eight episodes and will start on July 29, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video. The comic adaptation was developed by Stephany Folsom, who is also involved in another Amazon series this year. As a screenwriter and consulting producer, she joined the team on Amazon’s fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
