Apple currently supplies OLED displays for iPhones from Samsung and LG. However, it is claimed that Apple has recently been working to improve and diversify its supply chain. Moreover, it seems that the scope of this work is not only for the iPhone.
TRANSFORMED FACTORY FOR OLED DISPLAY
According to that report from South Korea, Apple’s supplier BOE recently transformed one of its factories in China to produce larger OLED displays for devices beyond smartphones, including tablets and computers. With the phrase larger OLED screens here, the iPad comes to mind directly. This is already mentioned in the report.
IS THE LARGER SCREEN iPad COMING?
The report claims that after BOE became a supplier of iPhone 13 displays last year, it is likely aiming to supply OLED displays to Apple for future iPads.
According to the report, screens up to 15 inches can be produced in the converted factory. OLED displays with twice the layers of red, green and blue emissions that could be produced here could pave the way for future iPads to have significantly brighter displays. Of course, the claims in the report are in this direction.
Previously, it has been suggested that Apple is exploring the idea of a larger screen iPad.
If BOE’s preparations are for Apple, we may soon see a 15-inch iPad model.
