Kashiramka practices interviews for a month to prepare

What did Kashiramka do? To prepare for his interview, Kashiramka networked with people who had made a similar transition and practiced for interviews for a month by holding mock sessions on a career services platform.

After several rounds of interviews, Kashiramka landed a product management position at Amazon in 2022. The position came with an annual salary of around $300,000 (around 280,000 euros), a mix of base salary and stock options.

This is why a CV is so important: He now works in the human resources department himself and explains that a good CV can be crucial when you have to choose between two applicants. This is how he says:

I remember a case where there were two equally good candidates for a job. Both made it through the final round of interviews, but only one could be offered the offer. Ultimately, the decision came down to the candidate with the more polished resume.

For this reason, he also recommends that other people who want to apply for a job follow a few tips that helped him back then.

What tips does he have? He himself explains that he has six tips for other people to keep in mind when writing their CV.

  • Talk about his own impact: In his CV he gives a detailed description of his previous tasks, followed by his work and its impact.
  • Provide a summary: Kashiramka explains that you can’t just copy the summary of your own responsibilities, that would make the resume unique.
  • Show variety: Throughout the resume, Kashiramka used a number of key words, including “used,” “delivered,” “established,” and “collaborated.” This makes the resume easier to read.
  • He recommends using a proofreading program and taking a second look at the document.
  • Write your CV in the first person. If you write about yourself in the third person, it seems a bit strange not to yourself, but also to the other company.
  • In his opinion, you should also reduce your CV to one page.
