An elusive group of free birds the 17th century artist

Free birds. This is how the members of the artist group Bentvueghels saw themselves. These mostly young artists traveled to Rome from all over the Netherlands in the 17th century. A large part of the group came from Utrecht. Far from home, they found each other in their love for the good life and art. They drank, made love and celebrated, while working hard and finding inspiration among themselves. Their work can now be seen in the Centraal Museum in Utrecht.
