Why is an Election Happening 15 Months Early?

Ontarians Last Went to the Polls in June 2022, when the Doug Ford-Led Progressive Conservative Won A Second Straight Majority. Voters in the Perth-Wellington District Elected Rookie MPP MPP Matthew Rae to Take up them at Queen’s Park. The Next Election was set for June 2026, But Ford Claimed the Time Was Right to Call for A Snap Election, Saying that he needed another strong mandate to counteract the Threatened Tariffs of Us President Donald Trump.

“With a strong mandate, we will be able to fight with Donald Trump to make sure we stop the Tariffs. . . . When you have a strong mandate in politics, and you have a strong mandate from the people for the next oven years to last over the over the trump administration, i can tell you, the opposition treats you with a little respect, as Opposed to Being Vulnerable, ”Ford Said at Late-January Press conference.

There are seven candidates Vying for the Perth-Wellington SEAT. These are:

  • Work with the Federal Government to Create A Joint Assistance Program to Support Residents who Are Impact by the Tariffs;

  • Cut the Small Business Tax Rate to 1.6 Per Cent, and Increase the Eligible Income, Which These Say Would Save Business Owners Up $ 18,000 A Year;
  • Create a Fightt-Tariffs Fund That Gives Business Access to Lower-Market Interest Rates (at Government Rates);
  • Ensure Stimulus Spending On infrastructure is focused on such as hospitals, schools, roads and transit;
  • Direct Department and Agencies to Excludes American Companies, Such as Elon Musk’s Starlink, from Opportunities and Invest the Savings Back Into Supporting This Stimulus Plan; and
  • Work with other provinces to eliminate interpreting trade barriers.

Looking for a Third Straight Election Win, Doug Ford’s Party has Promised a Slew of New Spending and Tax Breats. These include:

  • $ 10 Billion in cash flow support for Ontario Employers Through a Six-Month Deferral of Provincially Administered Taxes on Ontario Businesses;
  • $ 3 Billion in Payroll Tax and Premium Relief for Small Businesses;
  • $ 120 million to support approximately 18,000 bars and restaurants by Increasing the LCBO Wholesale Discount from 10 per cent to 15 per cent;

    Lead by Longtime Leader Mike Schreiner, The Ontario Green Party Would:

    Where and when to vote

    Election day is formally set for thursday, Feb. 27, with polls open from 9 am to 9 pm, but there are several advanced polls open as well. In Stratford, residents can vote by special Ballot at the election Office at the Stratford Hotel at 107 Erie St. from 10 am to 8 pm Monday to saturday and 12 pm to 5 pm on Sunday unit buttil feb. 26.

    Other Advance Polling Locations in Perth County, Which Are Open from 10 am to 8 pm from feb. 20 to Feb. 22 Include:

    • The West Perth Community Center at 185 Wellington St., Mitchell;
    • The St. Marys Pyramid Recreation Center at 317 James St. S., St. MARYS;
    • St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church at 1025 Wallace Ave N, Listowel; and
    • The Stratford Rotary Complex AT 353 McCarthy RD., Stratford.

    On election day, voters can cast their ballot at several rentals in the electoral district, include seven in stratford. To find where to vote on election day, residents can visit Voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca and input their postal codes.

    Voters Can also Request a Ballot to vote by email, but the deadline to do so is Feb. 21 AT 6 PM, and Elections Ontario Must Receive These Mail-In Ballots by 6 PM On Election Day. The Mail-In Voting Kit included in Write-In Ballot on Which The Voter Will Have to Write The Candidates’s Given Name (Or initials) and Suname.

    Voters can also request an at-home visit on election day if they are unable to vote in personal or require assistance to vote. Perth-Wellington Residents Can Request a Home Visit Up Up 6 PM On Feb 26 by Contacting the Local Election Office at: 1-833-505-3410.
