An e-sports tournament is played here – in a switched-off sports hall

It is the association Hoby eSport that for the third time arranged the tournament where young people from Blekinge, Skåne and Småland fought for the champion title in the computer game Fortnite.

– There are many who see this as a real sport, which it is. You can just play games, or play together with others and meet friends online. That’s what we exist for, says Mattias Claesson.

“The heart is pounding”

The young people have competed against each other during the winter, and this weekend the playoffs were decided in the sports hall in Bräkne-Hoby where the top 20 met over ten games.

The competition also attracted a small audience who followed the matches on large screens in the completely switched off sports hall.

– It’s fun but I’m nervous, says Pelle Gunnarsson, 10 years old, who lives in Ronneby.
