Utrecht – He was a veteran and a prominent resident of Wijk bij Duurstede: John Bruininga. He passed away in August 2021 at the age of 88 and now there is a lasting memory of ‘Paatje’, as his nickname is. With a memorial stone, an apple tree and a bench, Bruininga’s wish is fulfilled: He does not want to be forgotten.
